Shetek Marketing, sort of an interesting name don’t you think? You probably are wondering where the name came from. Well, we wanted a fairly general company name, but at the same time something unique. Given we are working on marketing on the Internet we felt that portion was pretty logical, but trying to find something unique for the first part was a little more difficult, especially when we wanted to be sure to have a domain name that matched. Shetek is based on us (and our business) living on the shores of Lake Shetek in Southwest Minnesota. Shetek is a Sioux name, “mderba-ageurs”, meaning pelican.
We started marketing on the Internet with Northern Needle, an online cross stitch store, back in 1999. The name Northern Needle didn’t fit too well when we started working in other areas of Internet marketing… so we came up with Shetek Marketing. Our Northern Needle customers know that we provided them top notch service. Everything we do with Shetek Marketing will be no different.
