Take a Break - Enjoy Life
Aug 27th, 2007 by Wendy
I’ve been pushing hard the last couple of months to get my first product completed, and I’m almost there. You’d think I’d get that extra spurt of energy needed to just push through and get it done. Instead, I was tired and cranky! Finally, after some pushing from my husband, I took some time off this week. A shopping trip with my nephews, read the last Harry Potter book, and did some needlework.
We hear it all the time in the material we read. How so and so works 18 hour days, and this person spends all weekend doing this, that and the other thing, and how it is really important to focus on this work if you are going to be successful. And yes, I know it’s tough when you are trying to make it online at the same time you are working a full time job - I’m right there with you!!! BUTTTT… they don’t tell you they do take breaks once in a while and they do have other things they ned to take care of. It’s easy to forget that when we’re reading how successful someone is or became because of all the time they spent on their business.
Unless you’re young and single and don’t care if your if you live in a pig-pen, there are other things we all need to do. Most of us probably have spouses that would like some of our time (I know mine does!), and laundry to do, or yard work, or clean the house. You get it… everything else doesn’t stop just so that we can focus on building a business!
After taking a weekend to get some other things done around the house that were nagging at the back of my mind, and taking time for sitting on the couch with my needlework, a good movie, my husband and my dog I felt much more focused this morning.
Now I remember the things that I want to do more of and why I need to push through the work now to make that happen!
We all need to work hard at making it online (or what ever you are trying to achieve), but we also need to remember that life doesn’t stop and we still need to enjoy things. Otherwise you’ll get frustrated and wonder why you’re even doing it.
So take a break once in a while - we all need it. Work will be there when you get back to it and you’ll be in a better mind set to focus on it when you do get back to it.
