It’s all about ACTION

As you can see from the date on my previous post, it’s been awhile!  ACTION - that is the reason for the lack of posting.  Yep, action, what I’ve been trying to do!  I’m working very hard at getting started and getting things rolling.  What that means is I need to take action, do things which will lead to reaching my goal.

Here is what I’ve learned over the last two months:

  • Get a coach if at all possible!!!  I did and the investment is so worth it.  I have two coaches - John Hostler and Liz Tomey - and they are wonderful!!!  No, I don’t have a site up and running and making money yet… because they are walking me through the whole process, from the top down.   They are showing me their system and how each step is done, therefore when I’m done I’ll have gained two things - a working site that is making money and the knowledge to do it over and over again, without their help.
  • I’m hoping my next comments don’t offend anyone because that isn’t my intent.  You hear it online all the time - “so and so who doesn’t have a degree and has never worked in a job their entire life is now making a ton of money online.”  I also know of a lot of people who have worked at mainstream jobs, some of them with a high level of education, yet they haven’t been able to get things together to make it work.  I fall into the second category - a college degree in Computer Science and have been in the computer industry for … well, let’s just say, plenty of time. ;-)  I think the problem is this… we think to much!!!  Yep, you heard me, those of us who have been in mainstream jobs think to much.  I’ve been reading every book and online report, ebook that I can get my hands on that I think will teach me what I need to know.  I’ve started on several different websites… but none of them seem to ever get rolled out.   Why?  Because I never think they are good enough and keep thinking if I did one more thing to them it would be awsome and I’ll make a whole bunch of money.  I’m afraid if I don’t get it right the first time I will ruin my chance of going at it again.   And that, is the problem!!!
  • Those who have not worked in the mainstream are much more likely to just try something and get it online.  It didn’t work, fine, let’s try something else… and eventually, BINGO!!!  They found the right mix for success and they repeat it over and over.

Do you see the difference?  I need to get out there and roll out what I have and give things a spin.  I’ll learn more doing that than if I just keep reading.  I’m sure I already know at least as much as some others online that are making money.  So, TAKE ACTION!!!  Just Do It!!

  • I quit buying every new product that comes out… unless it relates directly to my main area of focus.
  • I no loner read all of my emails… the majority of those emails are just pushing new products.  I now have more time to work on my projects when I’m not distracted by the next big thing.  It doesn’t always work, but I do my best to ignore them.  I quickly figured out who’s emails are worth reading (I ALWAYS read emails from Liz and John, and not just because they are my coaches) and who’s emails can wait.

Now, if I could just stay focused on my main to-do list instead of getting distracted with this, that, and the other thing, I may make progress.  I’m working on my first product that is the top of my marketing funnel.  It will be a set of interviews with some of the top marketers in the Private Label Rights (PLR) space.  I’ve all ready learned a lot just by doing the interviews!!

I guess I had better get back to my to-do list so my coaches don’t flog me!!

I’ve been debating whether to take down a blog site I created last month.  I called it Wendy’s Way to Wealth.  I may come across that I’m trying to get rich quick and show off.

You know how it is when you are trying to come up with a hook, something to get users attention, as well as a matching domain name.  I wanted a site where I could document my journey into internet marketing.  Hoping the information I shared would be beneficial to others.  The name sort of just fell out… and the domain was available.

I’ve decided to leave it up.  The website will only be used for the blogging of my journey, hoping others can follow in my key strokes.  There will still be marketing and product links on the blog, especially related to those products which I’ve purchased and found beneficial.

This site will be more geared towards the details of the business aspects websites I’m developing and marketing.

I hope you find both sites beneficial!

Dallas Focus Seminar

Wow!!  What a weekend!  I just returned from 4 days in Dallas at the Focus Seminar.  I can’t say I would have jumped on the chance to go initially, but I was prompted to due to a workshop given by Liz Tomey and Robert Puddy.  They made the offer a little hard to pass up.   The price of their workshop covered the cost of the registration fee for the whole weekend!

As somone new to Internet Marketing (since Dec 2006) it’s hard to think about spending money to go to a seminar.  Yes, it costs money for the registration and the travel.  But…. think about how much you spend every week on products!  How many of those products do you really read/listen to and absorb the information?  If you’re like me, I buy with the intent of using the material for gaining knowledge as well as making money.. and there they sit, unread.

That is what is so great about attending a seminar - unless you choose to sit in your hotel room instead of attending the workshops and sessions it’s rather hard not to get SOMETHING out of the conference!  You are almost force fed the information.  It’s great!!!!  Three days of information, four presenters each day,  90 minutes (or longer) each presentation.  The presenters were some of the top people in the industry - Keith Wellman, Donna Fox, Craig Perrine, Gary Ambrose and others!  On top of that you can visit with these experts one-on-one between sessions, and during the mastermind sessions at the end of each day.  Boy, I don’t know how you can get more great information in such a short amount of time.  By Saturday I was all ready wired - information overload, and I was dying to get home and try things out!  Ok, maybe it was too much caffeine too. ;-)

So what I’m trying to tell you is get off the computer and out of the house and get to a seminar!!!!  I doesn’t need to be a huge seminar or the most expensive.  Find one that is close to where you live so you can save expenses on travel.  This seminar was being promoted for $497, the highest price was $797.   If you thought it couldn’t be any good because it wasn’t $2,000 than boy, were you wrong!!!  I got more than my money worth!  In fact, at a smaller seminar it is much easier to network with people… which is exactly what I did.  I talked to Donna Fox, Keith Wellman, Gary Ambrose, Pat Lovell, Jon Attwood, Scott Paton, Harris Fellman, Liz Tomey, John Hostler, and Ross Goldberg!  Do you think they knew who I was?  No, but that didn’t matter!!  I learned something from every single one of them.

OK, off my soap box.  If you didn’t get my point here it is… find a conference you are interested in attending and thn put away some money every month to pay for it.  If it’s not this year, fine, save for next years conference.  JUST DO IT!  You won’t regret it!!

Oh, one more thing.  Do you want to know how some people know what is coming out ahead of time and they are prepared to take advantage of it… by networking.  I now know of at least 3 products that will be coming out in the next month or so. :-)
